Coronado is surrounded by water, except for the peninsula of land we call the Silver Strand which keeps us from being a complete island. San Diego Bay is huge and extends from the channel at Point Loma down to South Bay, providing waterfront for the inland side of Coronado. It is a "working" bay and every day Navy ships, cargo ships and cruise ships are seen coming in or leaving port. From First Street, the view of downtown San Diego is beautiful day or night, and provides a spectacular back drop to all the activity on the bay.

In the middle of all that activity, recreational boaters are out in force. If you are lucky, you might also get to see some of our local sea mammals including sea lions, dolphins and, once in a great while, the occasional lost grey whale. Coronado also has its own little bay, Glorietta Bay, which provides beautiful views from the Coronado Community Center, the Hotel Del, the Coronado Shores, and the Coronado Golf Course. Our beautiful bridge connects us to San Diego and spans across San Diego Bay in a beautiful arc. It is a beautiful view at the top as we head back down to Coronado, the Crown City.
