BBMAC/CUSD Pool Update – Support BBMAC!!!
June 23rd, 2009 Posted in CHS Sports, City of Coronado, Coronado Schools & Youth ActivitiesThe BBMAC has lowered its prices to match the City of Coronado Municipal pool. The City of Coronado awarded BBMAC a grant in the amount of $75,000 to help defray operating costs while providing an alternative site for aquatics activities of all types. This arrangement is a win-win that will allow the City of Coronado to expand some programs that they could not otherwise do due to scheduling of all pool events.
According to Joe Cook, the president of the BBMAC Foundation, the BBMAC foundation is looking for hard charging folks to assist with the tasks associated with running these great events along with assisting the BBMAC board in its continuing effort to raise the needed funds to continue operations. The BBMAC is still in a deficit spending situation that is funded by monies provided by the original aquatics endowment. Currently the balance on the original $1.2 million endowment stands at $740,000. Per the contract that was originally negotiated, the CUSD school board has placed the minimum level of the endowment at $600,000 so the endowment level is at critical levels.
Coronado is an aquatics town for a number of different reasons. We’re surrounded by water, we’re an active community and we have great facilities at the city and the school. The water polo and swim programs are strong components in CUSD athletics, and many residents are life-long swimmers. We are fortunate to have great facilities in our little city. SUPPORT the BBMAC!!!
