San Diego County’s best golf deal might go up in price some time after September. City officials are looking into raising the rates at Coronado Municipal Golf Course. Coronado hasn’t raised its greens fee since 2004, when it went from $20 to $25. Dave Jones, who has retired as Coronado’s golf services director, said recently that the course’s operational expenses per round are $24. Coronado City Manager Mark Ochenduszko said yesterday that the city will take a “reasonable” approach to raising fees. “We want to continue to provide a great golf course at a good value, but we have to pay for the course maintenance and do course projects that are needed,” Ochenduszko said. Ochenduszko said the plan is to meet with the city’s golf advisory committee in August or September to discuss rate increases.
He said golf rates likely will increase before the “end of the calendar year.”

Dave Jones retired recently after 26 years. His replacement, Roger Miller, started on June 30.
