Spreckels Mansion permit denied
February 8th, 2009 Posted in City of Coronado, Coronado History, Coronado NewsA controversial permit application was denied to the owner of the 101 year old Spreckels Mansion on Ocean Blvd. The owner of the property bought the house after entering into a Mills Act agreement, agreeing to maintain the home in an historically appropriate manner in exchange for dramatically reduced property taxes. The Mills Act is basically an incentive to maintain the historical presence of a home in the event of renovation.
