| Open for Boats – Boaters, other locals and Port of San Diego representatives attended a opening ceremony for the newly replaced Coronado Ferry Landing public dock. The dock can accommodate 10 visiting boats. | |
Boaters were welcomed back to the Coronado Ferry Landing public dock during a grand opening ceremony April 28.
Port of San Diego officials, Board of Port Commissioners Chairman Michael Bixler and Commissioner Robert Spane attended the event, along with boaters and other locals.
The new 3,800-square-foot public short-term guest dock can accommodate up to 10 boats on a first-come, first-served basis. No overnight berthing is allowed.
The new dock was built at a cost of $1.1 million to replace dock facilities that closed in 2006. The public dock, which was built in 1998, had been eroding because of tidal action.
Coronado Ferry Landing, which paid for the dock, will manage the facility. It was built by Topper Industries Inc. and installed by R.E. Staite Engineering.
