Coronado’s Former Mayor Smisek

It’s a new life for Tom Smisek, the recently retired mayor who committed himself to Coronado for 20 years, working to juggle a busy work schedule, family and an interest in local politics.

During his political career, the fiscally conservative mayor oversaw the largest capital improvement program in the city’s history, and he lobbied to keep Sharp Coronado Hospital and the Village Theatre from closing. He pushed a plan to build a tunnel from the San Diego-Coronado Bridge to North Island Naval Air Station, worked to control growth and built up budget reserves to all-time highs, while keeping city fees low.          To read the whole story click here……
