Expect extra noise from North Island aircraft starting today

October 17, 2008

FROM: Naval Base Coronado - Public Affairs Office

NAS NORTH ISLAND, Calif. – Residents near the Coronado shore line in the immediate vicinity of Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI) may experience an increase in aircraft noise, due to the base having to close one of its runways to conduct unscheduled required maintenance, starting today, Oct. 17.

All aircraft arriving at NASNI will approach the runway aligned with the Coronado shore line until the closed runway’s required maintenance is complete.

The Navy recognizes the importance of being good neighbors with the local communities and makes every effort to abate noise when possible.

All noise abatement complaints can be directed to 619-545-8233.  All other questions can be directed to Naval Base Coronado Public Affairs at 619-545-8167.
