Coronado beaches are seeing an influx of jellyfish this week. Not just the usual jellyfish, either. These are dark purple, commonly known as “black jellyfish,” and scientifically as Chrysaora achlyos. These jellyfish can reach 3 feet across and 25 feet long, and although they do sting and it can be painful, but unless you are allergic, it’s just going very uncomfortable if you get stung.
